Jamie McInerney is a Senior Director at FTI Consulting. He advises companies and specific projects in the upstream and midstream on strategies and tactics to identify and mitigate “above ground risk,” or non-technical risk. Jamie works with some of the largest energy producers in the world, including foreign corporations seeking to participate in the North American energy boom and U.S. companies entering new markets abroad. Jamie’s work at FTI includes helping companies adapt and maneuver in the rapidly evolving natural gas industry. He has extensive experience in managing energy companies’ relationships with host governments at both the national and local level.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting Jamie worked in upstream operations for ExxonMobil where he helped the company mitigate political risk and improve relations with host governments in West Africa, Southeast Asia, the Mideast, and the Americas. In various roles at ExxonMobil Jamie was embedded with production operations teams and also worked extensively with the global LNG team on issues ranging from individual project permitting to international LNG portfolio strategy. Before joining ExxonMobil he worked in the U.S. House of Representatives for two members of Congress from California on issues of energy, agriculture, and trade.
Jamie earned his MA in Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and has a BA from Middlebury College.
