Ford’s Electric Pickup Is $15,000 More Expensive Than Its Original Listing Price

The base version of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup now starts at $56,000, more than 40%, or about $15,000, over its original listing price earlier this year, according to Electrek. Ford hiked prices in August and October.

Electrek discovered the stealth price hike after visiting the order page of the Detriot-based automaker's website. The configuration and base price of all EV Lightning variants is shown below.

"Interestingly, the prices of the other versions of the F-150 Lightning haven't increased with this update. The cheapest way to get a Lightning with the longer-range extended battery pack is still the XLT, starting at $81,000," Electrek said.

There was no explanation by Electrek or Ford about the price hike. However, we pointed out several days ago that lithium-ion battery packs jumped in price for the first time since BloombergNEF began tracking.

Meanwhile, lithium prices per ton are skyrocketing.

Higher prices could spark an affordability issue that might jeopardize EV adoption. Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas recently told clients that EV demand is slowing.

I think a pure BEV Ford Explorer would represent a huge change in the USA Das Auto vehicle market given how massive the sales are for that nameplate #ironic because of how good the Chinese market Ford Explorer be so much better than the US market Ford Explorer as a straight up ICE Platform.

Either way margins for Legacy full size non-hybrid to super-duty sized trucks and SUVs in the North America market are absolutely enormous right now needs noting as well as are their capabilities. *"Russia declares War on the entire World"* has also upended the entire North American/Caribbean Basin/Panama market for literally everything ICE Platform as well with rumor not surprised in the least if true that General Motors is pulling every lever possible to get massive Ukraine War spending dollars at every turn.

Either way as relates to Oil price.com i think there is a ridiculously small level of refining capacity for oil into distillate fuels that Russia posseses but I'm not an expert in that in the least either. There was a report that Russian oil imports to Asia had dropped by a stupendous amount however (8 million barrels per day to 4 Mbps?) Also Boeing can't stop winning i think is huge news as well.
